Choosing between Full Log or Half Log

At first glance, you may not be able to tell the difference between our full log and half log profiles.  While each log is made using the same handcrafted methods, the building system itself has different characteristics that will help you choose what is best for your project.  Whether you choose our full-log, timber or our true half-log's, you'll enjoy the advantages of beautiful kiln-dried, heart centered, hand crafted logs.

The Expedition Log & Timber Homes package for both types of systems includes all of the materials for the weather-tight shell.  Our package is complimented by some of the best building materials available in the marketplace today.

Our partners include high-quality Pella™ windows and doors, Sashco Sealants, Certainteed™ shingles, FastenMaster log fastners and AdvanTech™ flooring just to name a few.

HALF LOG or HYBRID BUILDING SYSTEM

Combining the best construction methods available with the rustic beauty of logs, the insulated log building method has proven to be a popular choice among log home enthusiasts.

Movement and settling is prevented by the conventionally framed walls.  Energy efficiency is achieved through the combination of thermal mass and insulation.  Ease of construction - particularly plumbing, heating, electrical and cabinetry - make this a builders' dream.

Design flexibility and an abundance of interior finishing choices create a distinctive reflection of each homeowner's individual style.

FULL LOG BUILDING SYSTEM

For some log home enthusiasts, only the authentic solid log building method will do.

This tradtional log home construction method for first floor walls is combined with the advantages of the insulated log construction method for gable end walls to create a visually appealing, traditional full log home.
